Participate in our Program

Historically, researchers, community leaders and policy makers ignore or minimize Black women, contributing to their lack of inclusion in policy, resulting in housing insecurity, underemployment, incarceration, and lack of access to technology, education, and healthcare.

In this project we listen to and will acknowledge you (Black mothers). We learn from your experiences which inform research process and program recommendations. We work in collaboration with you to solve problems related to social mobility (e.g. work, education, housing).

From your experience, we want to know:

Challenges

What are the unique challenges of social mobility in Charlotte, NC as it relates to housing and employment insecurity for Black mothers?
Children's schooling experience

How do these challenges influence housing insecure Black mothers' children's schooling experiences?
Educational stability

What are the strategies housing insecure Black mothers use to maintain their children’s educational stability, during the era of COVID-19?
